Few people know that the Olympic Games originated in ancient Greece more than 2,000 years ago. It was named after Olympia, the ancient Olympic Games. The Frenchman Coubertin proposed the initiative of the Modern Olympic Games in the late 19th century. The Olympic Committee was established in 1894, the first Olympic Games was held in 1896, the first Winter Olympics was held in 1924, the first Paralympic Games was held in 1960, the first Youth Olympic Games was held in 2010, and the first Youth Olympic Games was held in 2012.

Olympic Flame Symbolizes Peace, Light, Unity &Friendship

The Olympic flame first appeared in the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. At that time, Coubertin proposed this idea, but it was limited to igniting the flame on a fountain plate near the stadium.

The ritual of the ancient Olympic Games igniting the flames originated from the myth that ancient Greeks had stolen fire from heaven. Before the statue of Zeus in Olympia, the fire was ignited on the altar according to religious rituals, and then the torch was run across the city-states to convey the Olympic Games. The message that is about to begin, the city-states must have a truce, forget the hatred and war, and actively prepare to participate in the Olympic Games, so the torch symbolizes the meaning of peace, light, unity and friendship.

In 1920, the Antwerp Olympic Games ignited a flame symbolizing peace in order to commemorate the end of the war; in 1928, a flame was burned on a tower during the Amsterdam Olympics, and the fire was taken by the Olympics with a condenser. In 1934, the International Olympic Committee confirmed the igniting ceremony and held a fire ceremony in Olympia on July 20, 1936, the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

The 2008 Olympic flame was taken from Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world.

The Olympic flame has continued to this day.
