Speaking of Confucianism, most Chinese understand it vaguely. What is Confucianism? Do Chinese people generally believe in Confucianism? It's really hard to answer. If you're a foreigner, it's even harder to do it right away.

Confucianism

Confucianism has no fixed form and no exchange of interests. Confucianism is actually an education and a positive growth method in the heart of every Chinese.

Confucianism does not seem to have any form, unlike other religions, which have churches, temples or statues to worship. Confucianism has no separate organization.

Historically, it was the monarch who was generally above the whole political organization. The monarch is not only the head of state, but also the highest teaching post. He is the Son of Heaven, a "holy man", who serves as the chief sacrificial in the most solemn celestial ceremony. The ancestors of the family are the priests of the family.

Officials at all levels below the emperor performed different sacrificial tasks according to their different grades. Officials serving in the imperial court often served as envoys of the emperor to perform sacrificial tasks outside the capital.

Local officials at all levels have replaced the original princes and offered sacrifices to the famous mountains and rivers in the territory. One of the important tasks is to pray for rain. In ancient personal anthologies, almost all Confucians who served as local officials had poems and essays related to praying for the eyes, praying for rain, and offering sacrifices to one of the gods.

Confucianism has no fixed form and no exchange of interests. Confucianism is in the heart of every Chinese.

The number of sacrifices is also stipulated. For example, there are four times a year for offering sacrifices to God: praying for the New Year in spring; praying for rain in early summer; enjoying the Ming Tang in autumn; offering sacrifices to the suburbs in winter solstice, which is the most solemn. Sacrificing ancestors and sacrificing Confucius usually takes place twice in the Spring and Autumn Period. In addition to the regulations, there are always sacrifices to God or ancestors to report what they want to do, which is called "informing" rites.

gmtlight Mr Niu,“Most Chinese seem to believe in nothing. They believe in heaven. In fact, this is one of the manifestations of Confucianism. Confucianism has no fixed form and no exchange of interests. Confucianism is actually an education and a positive growth method in the heart of every Chinese.”

Scholarly honour or official rank is the most solemn salutation when it has achieved great success.

In addition to these more solemn rituals, there are simple rituals. For example, in addition to the two sacrifices in the Spring and Autumn Period, there are two smaller sacrifices each month. Thirdly, the students go to school every day and also salute Confucius. There is a popular saying among Chinese people: "Many people are not surprised by rituals", in fact, God is not surprised. "Burning incense in the morning and evening" is also a relatively normal phenomenon.

There are also provisions for sacrifices, ranging from the most solemn livestock to melons, fruits and vegetables, which can be used as sacrifices.

Chinese people also have gods in their minds, among which "God" is common. When people encounter difficulties, they always pray to God for help. This God is not the same as the God in the Bible.
