What is phosphor?

What are the applications of phosphors?
1. Phosphor can be made into weak light source
In real life, people make use of the characteristics of luminous powder for a long time to make weak light source, which has special use in military departments. This material can be applied to aviation instruments, clocks, windows, machines, various switch signs, door handles, etc., and can also be pressed into various symbols, components and articles (such as power switch, socket, fishing hook, etc.) with various transparent plastic materials. After being illuminated by light, these light-emitting parts still emit light continuously at night or after accidental power failure or lightning, so that people can distinguish the direction around them and bring convenience to work and life. 2. Phosphor can be used to make all kinds of luminous materials
The luminous materials at home and abroad are mainly made of ZnS (zinc sulfide), SRS (strontium sulfide) and CAS (calcium sulfide), which emit green and yellow light. However, SRS and CAS materials are easy to deliquescence, which makes it difficult to be widely used. Therefore, the market is mainly based on ZnS luminous materials. However, its afterglow time is only 1-3 hours, and it is easy to deteriorate and blacken in strong light (such as sunlight), ultraviolet light and humid air, so its application in many fields is limited. The ZnS luminous powder co activated by cobalt and copper has a long afterglow time, but it has the phenomenon of infrared quenching. Under the illumination of electric light (including more red light), the afterglow is quickly extinguished.
