Xiao Rui explained that compared with the T3 level, the T5 level is more complex in simulating traffic scenes, which are mainly driven by cars. "T3 is a common urban scene, with urban overpasses; T4 is a complex urban scene, with tunnels, avenues and other settings; T5 is a special urban scene, which can realize the complex traffic and weather environment such as rain and fog, wet and slippery roads."
According to reports, a 100-meter-long tunnel has been built in the test yard. Vehicles enter the tunnel. The relevant equipment can simulate weather conditions such as rain, fog, strong light and weak light, so as to test the coping ability of the automatic driving vehicle.

Yizhuang base covers an area of about 650 mu, which is divided into three areas: urban scene, rural scene and high-speed scene. Closed test area can simulate nearly 50 kinds of test areas, such as urban main road, signalized intersection, ring island, bus lane, tidal lane, wading area, rain and fog simulation tunnel, highway, block road, sandstone road, etc. At the same time, test area specially for service-type electric automatic driving wheeled vehicle test is set up. "These scenes mainly refer to the road characteristics of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, covering 85% of the urban traffic scenes in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region." Xiao Rui introduced.

At present, the city has opened 44 test roads, 123 kilometers, is the longest open test road city in the country. Since Baidu obtained the first test license of Beijing Auto-Driving Road in March last year, up to now, the city has issued auto-driving road test licenses for 11 enterprises and 65 vehicles, and the road test of auto-driving vehicles has traveled more than 400,000 kilometers safely.
