Zhongnanhai, meaning "Middle & South Sea", located in center of Beijing city, it's from royal garden to China's top leadership Center，Zhongnanhai is a mysterious and magical place for Chinese people.
Zhongnanhai is similar to the White House of the United States.
Zhongnanhai is the collective name of Zhonghai and Nanhai. It is located in the west of Beijing Palace Museum and south of Aoyu bridge. It covers an area of 1500 mu, including 700 mu of water surface. It is a national key cultural relics protection unit. Before liberation, Zhongnanhai, formerly known as Xiyuan, was a place for feudal emperors to visit before liberation. The main attractions include Ziguang Pavilion, qinzheng hall, Jiaoyuan, shuiyunxie, Yingtai, fengzeyuan and Jinggu.
Zhongnanhai was built in the Liao and Jin Dynasties, 1000years before. and was once the Royal Garden of feudal rulers in Ming and Qing Dynasties. After the founding of the Republic of China, Zhongnanhai became the office of Beiyang government. After the national government established the capital of Nanjing, it was open to the public as a park.
Zhongnanhai is now the National Center of the people's Republic of China, the symbol and pronoun of the highest administrative power. It is now the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the president of the people's Republic of China, the State Council of the people's Republic of China, the National People's Congress of the people's Republic of China, the National Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference, the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, and the Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC Central Committee It is also the residence of the supreme leader of the people's Republic of China. It is also a mysterious place for the people's Republic of China.
On the west side of the Palace Museum in Beijing, there is a continuous natural lake, rippling with blue waves, buildings scattered and green trees. These are the famous "three seas" in Beijing: the North Sea, the middle sea and the South China Sea.
According to relevant historical records, Zhongnanhai is the name of Zhonghai and Nanhai. Zhongnanhai and Beihai together constitute Xiyuan Sanhai, which is a royal garden with a long history in China. After the construction of Liao, Jin and Yuan Dynasties, since the Qing Dynasty, "three seas" has been listed as a royal exclusive Forbidden Garden. During the reign of Emperor Kangxi, some government affairs were dealt with in the court of departure from the palace, and Zhongnanhai became the political center of the Qing Dynasty. There are many grand activities here every year.
In 1900, the Allied forces of the eight countries once regarded it as the "headquarters of the United forces".
In 1912, Zhonghai and Nanhai were occupied by Yuan Shikai, the leader of Beiyang warlord, and the whole Xiyuan three seas were divided into two parts. Zhongnanhai, which has become the "grand presidential palace", covers an area of 1500 mu, of which 700 Mu is water surface, nearly twice as large as Beihai Park.
After the founding of the Republic of China, the original Xiyuan Sanhai, bounded by jin'ao jade bridge, was designated as a civilian park for people to visit.
After the founding of new China, Zhongnanhai became the seat of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, and became China's top leadership center. Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Liu Shaoqi, Zhu De and other founding fathers of the Chinese Communist Party all lived and worked here.
Mao Zedong did not want to live in Zhongnanhai. Whether Mao Zedong moved into Zhongnanhai was put on meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, which was finally decided by the minority subordinate to the majority. Mao Zedong and some organs directly under the central committee moved into Zhongnanhai.
